Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the BrewGenius web application ("Service") operated by BrewGenius ("we," "us," or "our"). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. Account Registration

To use most features of BrewGenius, you must create an account. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You must provide accurate information and keep it up to date. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

2. Subscription Tiers

BrewGenius offers multiple subscription tiers (Free, Brewer, Master, and Club), each with different feature limits including AI query allowances, recipe storage, and access to advanced features. We reserve the right to modify tier pricing and features with reasonable notice. Paid subscriptions are billed on a recurring basis and may be canceled at any time.

3. User Content and Intellectual Property

You retain ownership of the recipes, brew logs, and other content you create on BrewGenius. By sharing a recipe publicly through the community feature, you grant BrewGenius and other users a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to view, share, and reference that recipe within the platform. You may remove your public recipes at any time, which will revoke this license going forward.

4. AI-Generated Content

BrewGenius uses artificial intelligence to generate recipes and provide brewing advice. AI-generated content is provided for informational purposes only and should not be considered professional advice. We do not guarantee the accuracy, safety, or suitability of AI-generated recipes. You are responsible for reviewing and validating any AI-generated content before brewing, especially regarding allergens and food safety.

5. IoT Device Integration

BrewGenius supports integration with third-party IoT devices (Tilt, iSpindel, RAPT Pill, Plaato, and others). We are not responsible for the accuracy of data from these devices, nor for any damage caused by reliance on that data. Device manufacturers' own terms and warranties apply to their hardware.

6. Community Guidelines

When using community features (sharing recipes, comments, and ratings), you agree to:

Not post content that is abusive, harassing, or discriminatory
Not spam or post misleading content
Not impersonate other users or entities
Not post content that infringes on others' intellectual property
Provide honest and constructive feedback in ratings and comments

We reserve the right to remove content and suspend accounts that violate these guidelines.

7. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or its systems
Interfere with or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure
Scrape, crawl, or use automated tools to extract data from the Service
Reverse engineer or decompile any part of the Service
Use the AI assistant to generate content unrelated to brewing

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components. Brewing involves inherent risks — you are solely responsible for the safety of your brewing process and final product.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, BrewGenius shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service, including but not limited to damages related to AI-generated recipes, IoT device data, or community content. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for the Service in the 12 months preceding the claim.

10. Termination

You may delete your account at any time through your account settings. We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately, and we may delete your data in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated Terms on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

12. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which BrewGenius operates, without regard to conflict of law principles.
